Accessibility
Last updated 29 October 2026
ScheduleSquared aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This is what works today, and what doesn’t yet.
Marking your times with a keyboard
- Tab to the grid, then move between times with the arrow keys.
- Space or Enter marks or unmarks a time. Shift+Space marks or unmarks that time on every day shown.
- Each day’s heading is a button that marks or unmarks the whole day.
- In the group view, the arrow keys move between times and show who’s free; Esc closes the details.
Screen readers
- The grid is announced as a grid. Every time says its day, its hour and whether you’re free.
- In the group view, every time says how many people are free, for example “3 of 5 available”.
- Saving, errors and other changes are announced as they happen.
Seeing and touching
- Text and controls meet WCAG AA contrast. Busy times from your calendar are hatched, not just coloured.
- Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, and every control shows a clear outline when it has focus.
- Animation is skipped when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Pages zoom to 200% and reflow on narrow screens.
Not there yet
- The heatmap shows numbers in each time’s label and in its details, not printed in the grid itself.
- Reading a calendar from a screenshot is visual by nature. An .ics file from your calendar app does the same job without one.
- No independent audit has been done yet.
